Dolls and TRUCKS!

In an effort to make sure Sarah is very diverse, when my mom bought Sarah her doll she also bought her a truck :) She loves to roll this truck along the floor and of course the cats also like to chase it around.

Christmas Photo

This past week I was trying to get a good Christmas photo of Sarah for our Christmas card. Well I soon found out it was hard to get a great picture of an active one year old! I was trying to get her to stand up but that didn't work very well...here are some of the mess ups and the final one I choose! She isn't standing but it was the best smile I could get :)

Just Relaxin with my Doll

Sarah recently discovered the boppy pillow again and loves to try to sit in it and lean back...like her own little recliner. This is how I found her during the Virginia Tech game this past weekend.
I LOVE VIRGINIA TECH!
Oh No! Don't drop the ball Tyrod!
ACC CHAMPS! We're going to the Orange Bowl!

It's My Birthday!

Sarah had a great 1st birthday with friends and family. Her first party was in Indianapolis. My mom, sister and niece were able to fly in for the special occasion. Then Sarah had another birthday party in New Smyrna Beach, Florida with Cam's side of the family. She is one lucky little girl.

Reading Under the Covers

Sarah LOVES books! She really just likes to turn the pages but still she will sit and just look and look at them. When I was working on getting her to sleep through the night, I put some books at the end of her crib so if she woke up she would at least have something to do. ( I also left her a sippy cup and about 339809 of her favorite toys) Well now whenever she wakes up the first thing she does is go to the end of the crib and read. Sometimes she will wake up in the morning and read in her crib without crying for 20-30 minutes. The thing that really cracks me up however is that she will read in the middle of the night. Several times I have heard her rustling around in the middle of the night and turned on the video monitor to see what she is doing. Sure enough she is reading! Last night she woke up at around 11 (didn't cry) but read until about 12:30ish! She never said a peep...just got up read her book and then fell back asleep! Hilarious!

Sleeping at Last!

Well I am happy to report that after 11 long months of no sleep, Sarah is finally sleeping through the night. She didn't give up easily though! We finally decided that we would have to bite the bullet and let her cry it out. Well the first night she cried for 5 hours and then fell asleep sitting up! Yes completely sitting up...she looked like she had fallen asleep in church and kept rocking forward and waking herself up but not once did she lay down. She is a very determined little girl. Well she didn't cry as long the second or third night but she still slept sitting up. Finally after one week she was laying down and after the second week she was sleeping through the night. ;) :) YEAH!
One thing that helped me let Sarah cry was the video monitor that my mom bought for us. Thanks mom! It is so nice to be able to look at her and see what she is doing.

Things you didn't know...

Ok...I was tagged by my friend Heather to write some things that you might not know about me. While I usually ignore these type of things...Heather told me at Book Club that I'd better do it...so here it goes!

7. I have watched Days of our Lives for about 16 years. I taped it in high school, college and yes even today I DVR it and watch it regularly. I realize that the storylines repeat about every 5 years but I love it and am addicted.

6. I drink coffee for the creamer. I really don't like coffee all that much but I love flavored creamer (it must be the liquid kind the powdered is not even worth it). My favorites are the winter ones like pumpkin spice and peppermint mocha!

5. I was once a member of a Frog and Turtle Club. My best friend and I growing up would collect frogs and turtles from our yards and put them in a box. In order to be a member of the club you had to hold a frog in your hand while riding a roller racer down the driveway. It was very exclusive.

4. In the winter when I go to bed, I tuck my pants into my socks so that I stay nice and toasty! In the summer, I take my socks off in the middle of the night and store them under my pillow. Yeah I know...it is strange.

3. I love to look at floor plans and walk around houses that are being built. This works out really well for me now since I am surrounded by construction and new houses. Yes I am the person peeking in the windows and trying to break into the houses under construction.

2. I love any books or movies that are part of a series or have sequels. When I was younger, I owned (actually I think my mom still has them) all one hundred and some Baby-Sitter Club books and read them all. Mallory was my favorite character. I also loved the Anne of Green Gables series.

1. I still look at my fingers to tell the difference between left and right. I have a freckle on my right pointer finger that helps me tell the difference. If you ask me "right or left?" you will probably see me look at my fingers quickly before I answer. Actually, I have gotten better in the last three years because now I have a ring on my left hand to help out.

Well there you go....seven weird and quirky things that you probably didn't know about me :)
